Hazelip School of Theology
Hazelip School of Theology is a Candidate Member of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). ATS is the preeminent accrediting body for graduate theological education in the UnitedStates. Some doctoral and chaplaincy programs will only accept students who have graduate training from an ATS-accredited school.
The mission of Hazelip School of Theology is to help students deepen their relationship with God and to equip them for service in the kingdom of God. A great need exists in the world today for men and women who can model a deep, healthy relationship with God and who possess the knowledge and skills to minister in the context of a complex and rapidly-changing world.
Our most comprehensive degree, the Master of Divinity, addresses all of these areas. Consequently, the M.Div. has traditionally been considered to provide the best preparation for ministry. It is required for ordination in many religious bodies, as well as for service in fields such as chaplaincy. It is typically a prerequisite for the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree, and in recent years it has also become a requirement for entrance into some Ph.D. programs.
The Master of Theological Studies, while not as comprehensive as the M.Div., still provides a significant foundation in theology and the M.T.S. can be a basis for further graduate programs that do not require the M.Div.
For an emphasis in ministry, the Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (M.A.C.M.) is a thorough degree. Focusing on ministry preparation with a foundation in scripture and interpretation, the M.A.C.M. is our newest degree offering.
The 36-hour Master of Arts degree programs that were under the College of Bible and Ministry and that had emphases in Old Testament, New Testament, Biblical Studies, Christian Studies, Theology, and Ministry were discontinued at the end of the 2008-09 academic year.
